Saraswathi Ranganathan (Sara) brings a fresh verve to Veena rendition with her smooth play, winning praise from critics and connoisseurs alike. Whether it is classical carnatic or fusion music, Saraswathi handles the instrument with ease and aplomb. She has been aptly conferred the name ‘Veena Paani Saraswathi’. The granddaughter of Spashta Gana Kalamani, Gana Sudhakara Late Smt. Sulochana Mahadevan, she had her initial training from her mother Shantha Ranganathan, and advanced guidance from Karnataka Kalashree E P Alamelu. Saraswathi has been performing for more than 25 years now with several performances and novel music experiments to her credit, presented to a global audience. Sara works with various music groups and independent artists in Chicago and has released her first album The Magic of Veena, which is already popular among music rasikas. Sara holds a Masters in Sanskrit and an MBA from Loyola University of Chicago. She runs her music school, Ensemble of Ragas in Schaumburg teaching carnatic classical vocal and Veena.
