Shriya Srinivasan
A multitalented teenager, Shriya exhibited her artistic abilities in singing and
dancing even when she was three years old. Shriya began learning Bharathanatyam
formally under the tutelage of her mother Sujatha Srinivasan from the age of
five. Shriya had the good fortune of performing her arangetram in the presence
of great gurus in Chennai in June 2008. Shriya won the first prize at the 2009 Cleveland Aradhana Bharathanatyam competition and has been invited to perform in Chennai She has performed many major roles in several dance dramas along with her mother and won special mention for her performances. Shriya has also participated in several community cultural events in and around Cleveland. Shriya is equally gifted in vocal Carnatic music, and has won several prizes at the Thyagaraja Aradhana, Cleveland and India. She started her music training initially under Smt. Gnanam Subramanian and now continues under Guru Madurai R. Sundar of Detroit. Shriya’s other passions include Western violin, piano, art, swimming and oratory and she has won awards for all of them. She is the first ever winner of the Optimist International District Oratorical Contest, 2008 in her entire school district. Shriya is the topper of the Principal’s List for best grades and is a member of her school’s Symphony and Chamber Orchestra. Shriya is a sophomore at the Strongsville High School. |
